After 8 years of FRC experience, I decide to help the startup of a rookie team. A team of 7 aspiring engineers have come together to compete as a new team for the 2024 FIRST Robotics Competition Season with competitions in Grand Forks, ND, and La Crosse, WI. As the primary build/design mentor, I manage the brainstorming, prototyping, CAD, and build of the competition robot. Additionally, I have stepped in as the primary software/autonomy mentor.
I joined the team in seventh grade as the youngest member. Over the first two seasons, I worked side-by-side with upperclassmen and professional engineers to design and build durable, high-performance robots under tight constraints. This set the stage for a promotion to team captain. In this role, I lead the intricate design of the robot frame and components in SOLIDWORKS, oversaw the automation and programming using LabVIEW and Java, coordinated the assembly of prototypes and the competition robot, and provided instruction and skills to aspiring engineers.
